After a magic and unforgettable 40th bday party on March 21st at a friend’s loft in Brooklyn with my great friend Dj Nori from Tokyo playing all night long, I got to discover for the very 1st time the amazing vibrant city of Mexico City DF where ancient aztec culture and modernism mix up. From the very laidback bohemian art deco/artsy neighbourhoods of Condesa and Roma, to the impressive National Museum of Anthropology within the Chapultepec Park, the beautiful art/house/museum of the fierce Mexican female painter Frida Kahlo in Coyoacan, to the superb architecture masterpiece of the great Mexican master Luis Barragan’s house in Tacubaya, the delicious tacos and sea food etc, it was a new (latin) world discovery and such an inspiring trip! I can’t wait to go back to DJ next hopefully very soon.

先月3/21にBrooklynの友人のロフトでDj Noriを迎えて最高の40歳の誕生日パーティを祝った後、初めて古代アステカ文化と現代文化がミックスしてある活気のある今大人気の世界でも最大の大都会Mexico Cityに行って来ました。泊まっていたCondesaとRoma地区のとても落ち着いたボヘミアン&お洒落なヨーロッパ風のアールデコ&アートっぽい近辺、Chapultepec公園内にある高大な国立人類学博物館、Coyoacan地区にあるメキシコの現代絵画を代表する女性画家Frida Kahloの生家/スタジオであるとても素敵な「青の家」のFrida Kahlo記念館、Tacubaya地区に建つメキシコの現代建築を代表する巨匠Luis Barraganの素晴らしい建築傑作&世界遺産である邸と仕事場、とても美味しかった本場のタコスとシーフード等、新しい(ラテンの)世界を発見したとても刺激的な旅行でした! 現地のクラブも盛り上がっていて、次は夏頃にはDJで行けそうです。とても楽しみです!

Amsterdam is one my favourite city in Europe. The centre is not too big, very charming with its canals, with a lot of green spaces on the outside, and you can bike all around it. The vibe is mellow, the people are very friendly and it is very imternational. It is a bit like the perfect global village! You have also the famous coffee shops and the red light district… It is also one of the greatest city for art, street culture and for music with amazing record stores, clubs, artists and record labels.

ヨーロッパの都市の中ではAmsterdamが大好きです。中心部もそこまで大きくもなく、街の周りに緑が多く、とてもチャーミングで、自転車で気楽にどこでも移動が出来ていいです。比較的に、のんびり過ごしやすくて、人が優しくて、とても国際的な都市です。ある意味理想的なグローバル・ヴィレッジです! 他にもコーヒー・ショップと風俗地区も世界的に有名ですが、アート、ストリート・カルチャーやレコード・ショップ、クラブ、アーティスト、ミュ−ジシャンやレコード・レーベルが多く集まる、音楽が寝ずいている都市です。

Thanks to the Innervisions family I have been playing regularly in Amsterdam for the past 5 years. I played first at 11 which was on the last floor of this big industrial art building. club 11 shut down and Olaf Boswijk and its staff relocated to the TROUW newspaper printing factory naming the space TROUW. It happened that I played for the pre-opening of the club which since then has been rocking! It is one of my favorite club in Europe today. Its music policy and curation is cutting edge, the great Funktion One sound system, the people who come know the music, they love to party, the crowd is sexy and very mixed, it is funky and soulful, and the staff is awesome!

5年前にInnervisionsファミリーのおかげで始めてAmsterdamでプレイすることが出来ました。最初は巨大工業アートビルの最上階にあったclub 11でした。club 11はクローズしてマネージャ&DJのOlaf Boswijkとそのスタッフは元TROUW紙の印刷工場に移ってスペースをTROUWと名付けた。たまたまプリ・オープニング・パーティでもプレイをしました。それ以降TROUWは止まらず成功を納めて盛り上がり続けている。ヨーロッパでは一番お気に入りのクラブである。実に拘ったトップ・クォリティーな専門的な音楽ポリシーと遊びフィーリングがミックス、素晴らしいセンスとスペースのキュレーション、鳴りのいいFunktion Oneのサウンド・システム、パーティ慣れしている音楽好きのお客さん、とてもミックスされたセクシーなクラウド、ファンキとソウルフルで、そして何と言ってもスタッフが最高!

The big Innervisions party with nearly all the Innervisions artists on May 2011 at TROUW was definitely unbelievable! I hadn’t seen for a long time in such a big club this kind of powerful and beautiful hi energy, tension, vibe and unity.

2011年5月にTROUWで行われたInnervisionsのほぼ全アーティスト達が揃った伝説のビック・イベントは信じられなくてとにかく凄かったです! あそこまでの大箱であそこまでパワフルで素晴らしいエネルギ、テンション、ヴァイブスと一体感を体験したのは久しぶりだった。感動しました!

The last time I played there was last May 2012 on a Sunday night for the Drupkers party with residents Olaf, Job Jose and a live show by Ame. The whole club was decorated for the special Sunday evening party with cushions on the floor. The vibe was very warm and relax. The resident Olaf and Job played an amazing set. Frank from Ame blew me away when he played as his last song his new track “Howling” we made with the LA composer Ry. I played after the live show, Parkway Rhythm “Working Girl”, Aeroplane ” Caramellas” (Joakim remix), Andres “New for U”, Flower and Sea Creatures “The sitting room” (Mano Le Tough remix), Donna Summer “I feel love” sounded so good and we closed the party happy in smile with Frank on Carly Simon “Why”.

最後にTROUWでプレイしたのは数ヶ月前2012年5月の最終日曜日、レジデントOlafとJoseとスペシャル・ライヴ・ゲストにAmeを迎えてのDrupkersパーティでした。日曜日のスペシャル・パーティのためにクラブ全体はデコレーションされてフロアーにチルアウト用にクッションが置かれていた。OlafとJob Joseの気持いいハウス・セットに続いて、AmeのFrankはさらにアップグレードされた素晴らしいライヴ・セットを披露して、クラブも盛り上がって、ラストの曲として最近LAの作詞家&歌手であるRyとのコラボレーション・ソング”Howling”を演奏して、やられる! ライブ後は、DJタイムでお気に入りのトラック、Parkway Rhythm 「Working Girl」, Aeroplane 「 Caramellas (Joakim remix)」, Andres 「New for U」, Flower and Sea Creatures 「The sitting room (Mano Le Tough remix)」, Donna Summer 「I feel love」をプレイして、最後はFrankとハッピーに笑顔一杯でCarly Simon「Why」をプレイしてパーティは終了。

The last week end of April, back from Tokyo just for 2 days, I went to play for the very 1st time in Brazil, in Sao Paulo, a real dream come true! I was always so fascinated by Brazil, especially through all the beautiful music I discovered in the 90s working at the record store Mr.Bongo in Tokyo! Brazil is booming right now. Sao Paulo is a huge metropolis and is the active economic cultural center.

4月の最終末に、東京からNYCに2日間だけ帰って来て、始めてブラジル、Sao Pauloに行って来ました! 90年代に東京のレコード・ショップMr.Bongoで出会った素晴らしいブラジル音楽を通して、昔からブラジルにとても興味を持っていました。夢がやっと叶えました。ブラジルは今景気がとても良くて、とても盛り上がっています! Sao Pauloは東京より大きい経済と文化が集中している世界の最大都市です。

My 1st gig on Friday was in this city called Campinas one hour drive from Sao Paulo in this beautiful club called Pianno club in this old renovated building from the 40s. A great party hosted by the nicest promoters Eliana and Bruna!

最初のギグはSao Pauloから約1持間にある都市Campinasの中心部にある40年代の素晴らしい建物の最上階にある、DJブースがステージ上のピアノにセットアップされているお洒落なPianno Clubです。とても陽気&素敵なElianaとBrunaがオーガナイズしているとても楽しいパーティでした!

The big party was at the amazing club D.Edge in Sao Paulo on Saturday night. One of the best club I have ever been and played at! I really impressed in every way. The sound system was so good, the lighting and the decor amazing, with the nicest and sexiest crowd too. I felt very comfortable and I played a great groovy ecclectic house set. One of the resident DJ, Davis and I finished at 10:30am!

翌日土曜日はSao Pauloの代表的なエレクトロニック・ミュージック・クラブD.Edgeでのビック・パーティでした! 今まで世界でプレイして来たトップ・クラブ間違えないです! 本当にレベルに驚きました。サウンド・システムもとても良くチューニングされていて、照明と内装もとてもカッコ良くて、そして何と言ってもお客さんがファンキでセクシーでした!! とても気持ち良く5時間グルーヴィなハウス・セットをプレイ出来てとてもエキサイティングでした! レジデントDJのDavisと結局午前10:30までプレイ!!!

Despite of the rain, I got a little bit of time to have a little walk in the Irapuera park to see the Oscar Niemeyer designed auditorium, buildings and museums , have the best caipirinhas, met with the great Brazilian/japanese DJ Tahira who played a fantastic set at the pre-Sonar festival in a park on Sunday and record shop at the very good Disco Sete in the old Sao Paulo.

4日間雨ながらも、少ない観光時間の中、ブラジルのトップ現代建築家Oscar NiemeyerがデザインしたIrapuera公園の建物や美術館を見て、とても美味しいブラジルのカクテルcaipirinhasを飲んで、パーティの翌日の日曜にSonarのプリ・パーティでとても面白かったプレイをした日系ブラジル人のDj Tahiraとハングアウトして、そしてSao Pauloのダウンタウンにあるとてもいいレコード・ショップDisco Seteに行って来ました。

Back in NYC, I played last saturday at the great restaurant/bar bellwether in Williamsburgh for the new brazilian party “Hello Sailor” which was super nice, playing a lot of my favourite brazilian records.

先週の土曜日にSao Pauloの仲間がここ最近Brooklyn, Williamsbughに出来たハイエンドな音響システムが置いてあるレストラン/バーbellwetherでオーガナイズしている新パーティ「Hello Sailor」でお気に入りのブラジリアン・サウンドをプレイ!

It has been a year since that terrible disaster struck Japan last March 11th,2011! All of our deepest thoughts go to the Tohoku region and all the Japanese people. Japan is facing still its biggest crisis, politically, economically and of the course the serious nuclear crisis. To commemorate together, I am re-posting this mix I did a year ago to Pray for Japan. Let’s keep helping and support Japan! We must not forget. Now is the time to think about the after reconstruction and the future of Japan.

去年の2011年3月11日に東北を襲った大震災から1年が立ちました! NYCから東北と日本の皆さんに心から強い思いと祈りをお送り致した。日本は未だに、政治、経済そして原発の最大な危機を向かえてます。ここで改めて1年前に作った「Pray For Japan mix」をもう一度アップします。忘れては行けないです。サポートを続けて行きましょう。そして復興と日本の将来について考えて行くことが大切です!

In NYC I attended yesterday the 1st anniversary memorial “Together for 3.11″ organised by the great active japanese singer AK.

昨日はNYCで日本人の歌手であるAKがオーガナイズ&司会を勤めた今回の東北大震災の1周忌の追悼式「Together for 3.11」に行って来ました!

I visited and played in the cities of Morioka and Sendai, 2 cities I know well with great (music) friends, 3 months after the disaster. My friend Hiroki Sato in Sendai drove me to the devasted coast 30min from the centre of Sendai. I have never seen with my own eyes something that horrible. It was so schocking, I was breathless!! We had a great intimate party after on a Monday at club SHAFT.

震災3ヶ月後に、多くの(音楽)仲間&ファミリーがいる、盛岡と仙台でプレイしました。仙台の友達であるサトウ・ヒロキ君と仙台市から車で約30分にある被災地を回りました。それは自分の目で見たことがなかった言葉では語れないとてもショッキングな光景でした!その夜仙台のクラブShaftで小さい規模のとてもいいパーティをやりました。

A lot of demonstations are happening this week end all over Japan. It is so important to commemorate and also to raise our voices and demonstrate to fight for ourselves for a better, brighter new Japan! The people of Tohoku have been so strong and so brave. The government of Japan and its system has failed in the handling of this whole crisis. This is is the very sad reality. There is no more trust in the establishment. I am mixed with all kinds of different feelings but I believe in the Japanese people!

今週末日本全国で多くのデモ、100万人デモが行われています。追悼することはもちろんとても大切ですが、同時に明るい新しい将来の日本のために戦って声を出して行くこともとても重要です! 東北の人々はとても勇気があって強いです。しかし震災後の日本の政府の対応はあまりにも最悪です。とても悲しい現実です。政府に対する信頼と期待がないです。自分の中に色々な感情が混ざってます。日本人の心を信じてます!

We are still living in Japan in Radioactivity danger! Sakamoto Ryuichi, his entourage and a lot of japanese artists like the japanese architect Shigeru Ban are very active on the ground supporting the Tohoku region! This is a beautiful cover version of Kraftwerk “Radioactivity” which means a lot.

現在も放射能の危険の中に日本では人々が生活してます! 坂本龍一とその周辺のアーティスト達、建築家の板茂等が東北でとてもアクティヴに現場で支援活動をしてます。このKraftwerk「Radioactivity」のカヴァー曲は非常に素晴らしいです。

A very powerful anti-nuke song&performance from the japanese band Frying Dutchman from Kyoto! It is so moving. Japan, wake up! Let’s make a better peaceful no-nuke new Japan!

I just arrived early this morning in Tokyo from San Francisco. I was sad to leave California. We spend 10 great days in San Francisco, Sacramento and Los Angeles for our X’mas and New Year’s holidays. The NYE party at the warehouse party Music For Dancers with Dj Spun (Rong Music) in downtown LA was MAGIC! We stopped the music at noon. Definitely one of those special moments in time. Thank you so much Cali! I hope to be back soon. I feel it is going to be a great year!!

Tonite in Berlin from 7pm chez Jacki I will be participating to this great workshop! And this week end I am playing at 2 very good clubs, on Saturday morning at 8am at Panorama Bar and Saturday night at Robert Johnson in Frankfurt with Kristian from AME for an party.

For the Planet E 20th year anniversary, we had the honor to work on a mix of one of our favorite song the very early masterpiece “Neurotic Behavior” from Carl Craig’s early project Psyche. We are very happy to be participating in this very special event. It means a lot to us after all those years as fans and music producers!
